GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ South Dakota National Guard will host a welcome home ceremony at 10 a.m. Sunday, Jan. 11 at the Range Road Armory for the 109th Engineer Battalion, returning from a 13-month deployment to the southern border (50 soldiers and their families will attend). Gov. Larry Rhoden and city leaders will speak. KBHB
- ➤ Rapid City's Planning Commission will review a permit from GCC/Colorado Energy Recyclers to shred tires onsite at the landfill; if approved, the facility will operate 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Saturday, produce TDF + TDA for local use, save the city $30,000 to $50,000, and open by spring. - ➤ A South Dakota board approved up to $200 million in tax-exempt bonds for Rapid City-based Monument Health to expand and upgrade its facilities in the Black Hills region. The bonds will finance renovations at the Rapid City Hospital, extensions at Spearfish, and new emergency and orthopedic centers — all without using state tax dollars. KBHB
