  • Over 850 middle school girls are set to attend the annual Women in Science Conference at South Dakota Mines to explore STEM careers through interactive exhibits and talks by professional women.  Rapid City Journal

  • Pennington County forms a diverse task force to research the impacts and regulations of wind and solar projects during a year-long moratorium.  Rapid City Journal
  • The South Dakota House approved a $15 million interest-free loan from the state's housing infrastructure fund to support school facilities expansion for the Douglas School District near Ellsworth Air Force Base.  KBHB
  • The Rapid City Council approved the second reading of a TIF ordinance, which will implement a new TIF policy for the first time after a 20-day publication period.  Rapid City Journal

    Set in the seedy Kit Kat Club, this musical favorite explores the dark, heady, and tumultuous world of 1920's Berlin as Germany slowly yields to the emerging Third Reich. Cabaret features memorable songs and follows eccentric characters such as the garish Emcee, the charismatic singer Sally Bowles, the disillusioned landlady Fraulein Schneider and the mild-mannered fruit seller she loves, as they navigate a world on the brink of change.

  • Rapid City's Rushmore Tsunami Swim Team recorded its best performances ever while competing at South Dakota’s three State Swimming Championship events to close out a most successful 2024 - 2025 short course swimming season.

    As a team, Rushmore Tsunami finished 3rd at both State A meets, earned the coveted percentage award trophy at both the State A 12 and Under and State B meets for the most points per swim which speaks to the quality of Tsunamis’ swimmers, and scooped up a slew of individual championships, podium medals Finals placements and personal bests. The state swim meet venues for this short course winter season included: the 2025 13 and Over SD State A Short Course Swimming Championships, February 27-March 2; the 2025 12 and Under SD State A Short Course Championships, February 20-23 in Mitchell; and the SD State B Short Course Championships, February 7-9 in Pierre.
