COMMUNITY NEWS
- ➤ Rapid City and Optimists will host a free Easter Egg Hunt at 9 a.m. Saturday, April 4 at Sioux Park for youth 13 and under. Rapid City Journal
- ➤ Today, the Rapid City Police Department announced the Journey On grant to boost community safety and offer resources for residents in Star Village. The initiative builds on two years of outreach (fostering stronger local relationships and strategic planning). Rapid City Journal
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Crews from J.V. Bailey, Inc. will begin repairing a damaged barrier on eastbound I-90 and the Piedmont service road on Wed, Mar. 11, reducing lanes and speeds during work hours + westbound repairs near exit 58 will follow in late March with work ending on June 26. KBHB
- ➤ Rapid Transit System in Rapid City recorded 23,380 trips in February—a 13% rise over last year—with youth trips also increasing+ showing growing use of public transit. Rapid City Journal
SPORTS NEWS
- ➤ The Brandon Valley Lynx girls basketball team beat the 16th seeded Sturgis Scoopers 52-24 on Friday night to secure a spot in the AA state tournament. They will face Tea Area in the first round on Thursday, Mar. 12 at the Summit Arena in Rapid City. KBHB
- ➤ On Friday, the men’s team advanced to the RMAC Tournament championship game after a 77-75 win over Fort Lewis at A2 Arena in Spearfish. Meanwhile, the women’s team fell to Colorado Mesa Mavericks by a 37-point margin. KBHB
- ➤ The Sioux Falls Lincoln Patriots kept their unbeaten record with an 88-44 win over Sturgis on Saturday night, earning a spot in the boys State AA Basketball Tournament; they will face Tea Area Thursday at noon at Rapid City's Monument Ice Arena. KBHB
- ➤ Ryan Wagner scored twice and added an assist on Friday at The Monument Ice Arena, but the Rush lost 4-3 to the Wheeling Nailers. The team struggled with three forwards out (limiting their comeback effort), leaving them with a challenging three-point week. KBHB
