ENVIRONMENT NEWS
- ➤ Fire crews continue battling the Qury Fire southeast of Custer today as the blaze burns over 5,000 acres; evacuations remain for residents in Lower French Creek and nearby areas while officials use heavy equipment and air support to protect structures. They urge personnel to stay clear of the fire area. KBHB
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ South Dakota Game, Fish and Parks Commission ended its Nest Predator Bounty Program and replaced it with two initiatives. The Youth Trapping Recruitment Program will pay $10 per tail (Mar. 1–July 1) while the Coyote Bounty Program will pay $30 per tail (Apr. 1–July 1) to protect livestock and wildlife. KBHB

- ➤ On Thursday, the 2026 state girls basketball tournaments kicked off with quarterfinal games in Rapid City, Watertown, and Brookings. Brandon Valley won a 78-53 game while Aberdeen Central beat Rapid City Stevens, and teams in classes A and B also secured competitive wins. KBHB
