- ➤ A Rapid City man, Craig Returns From Scout, was sentenced to 50 years in prison with 15 years suspended for first-degree manslaughter after he kicked and stomped Glennard Gunn to death in 2023—officers responded to the incident on Sept. 16 and discovered Gunn on the 100 block of East Boulevard North—and he received his sentence in a Tuesday morning hearing at Pennington County Court. - ➤ A 19-year-old Rapid City resident, Ethan DuBray, pleaded guilty to a robbery that began in 2023 when he pulled a gun on a gas station attendant and later threatened a police officer in jail—resulting in a sentence of 10 years in prison with 2 years suspended. KBHB
ECONOMY NEWS
- ➤ GasBuddy's survey shows that gasoline prices in South Dakota increased by 12.4 cents per gallon over the past week to a daily average of $2.99, with pumps ranging from $2.37 to $3.62 — a spread of $1.25. KBHB
- ➤ WalletHub released a report today that finds South Dakota is ranked third for taxpayer return on investment in 2025 based on 29 metrics that compare education, health, safety, economy, and infrastructure and pollution. The study also noted that 66% of Americans think their current tax rate is too high as Tax Day nears on April 15. KBHB

- ➤ On March 18, experts found that all of South Dakota was in drought with 42% of the state facing severe or extreme conditions — and they said the drought will continue for at least another month — as dry weather and high winds raise fire danger in eastern grasslands and the Black Hills.
