- ➤ South Dakota farmers (from Lake Preston) are sending 22 trucks to Ashby this week to drop off hay for wildfire support after farms were hit in Nebraska. The 12-hour round trip shows local efforts to help neighbors in need. Dakota News Now
FINANCE NEWS
- ➤ WalletHub released its 2026 Tax Burden by State report on April 1 and found that South Dakota had the sixth lowest overall tax burden at 6.38% because the state does not levy an individual income tax while property and sales taxes remain moderate. KBHB
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ January sales tax receipts in Rapid City grew 4.7% to more than $6.4 million, with tourism collections rising 9.4% above last year, and finance officials reported the numbers were above budget following a record-smashing December. KBHB
