  • Students from schools across West River attended Rep. Dusty Johnson's annual Level Up youth conference at Western Dakota Tech in Rapid City on Friday, April 4.  Rapid City Journal
  • On Saturday morning, Rapid City children—dressed in warm coats and hats—gathered at Omaha Street to hunt 4,000 eggs using buckets and bags in the brisk air.  Rapid City Journal

EDUCATION NEWS

  • The Office for Civil Rights terminated its resolution agreement with Rapid City Area Schools that aimed to fix unfair treatment of Native American students after a report last May, leaving school officials surprised and planning next steps. Acting Superintendent Cory Strasser said the district had completed much of the work under the agreement and remains committed to quality education—promising to update the community as further details emerge.  Rapid City Journal

  • On April 4, Rep. Dusty Johnson spoke at the Level Up youth conference at Western Dakota Tech in Rapid City — urging about 100 high school students to engage in politics and set aside divisive tribalism. He said active voting, door-knocking, and volunteering are vital steps to strengthen democracy — a call for unity amid partisan debate.  Rapid City Journal
  • An eight‐week road project will begin Monday at the Rapid City Landfill—officials say customers will face increased wait times and possible traffic delays—and customers are advised to follow posted signage and instructions from scale personnel.  Rapid City Journal
