- ➤ Parks and recreation crews in Rapid City are starting seasonal work to prepare more than 20,000 plants for summer in city parks. The crews will tend to the new greenery through the summer and into the fall using seasonal workers. KELOLAND
CRIME NEWS
- ➤ On April 9, Rapid City Police were dispatched at around 3:30 p.m. to an apartment building at 25 Knollwood Drive after reports of gunshots were received, and officers found several shell casings in the parking lot—no injuries were reported as they continue to investigate the case and check an unoccupied suspect vehicle nearby. SPORTS NEWS
- ➤ The annual Douglas Early Bird Track and Field meet was held Tuesday in Box Elder where Kincade Lehman of Custer set a new state record in the boys triple jump with a jump of 48 feet 7.25 inches—beating Bud Hamilton's 1991 mark of 47 feet 11.50 inches. Additional events saw winners in races and relays from competitors representing Custer, Stevens, Philip, Hill City, and Sturgis. KBHB
