CRIME NEWS

  • Rapid City Police arrested Aaron Farley after he threatened a store clerk with a rock and broke a window at a Common Cents gas station on Omaha Street at 1:50 p.m. on April 10—he faces charges for Simple Assault and 2nd Degree Vandalism.  KBHB

ECONOMY NEWS

  • Montana Roem and Feeding South Dakota officials say a proposed cut to federal funding will limit food for school programs and pantries—impacting families who rely on local mobile food banks and farmers for fresh produce. The changes include ending LFPA funding this summer and pausing TEFAP, which may force local groups to seek new donations and support.  Native Sun News
  • Numbers released Friday show Rapid City Regional Airport saw an 8.8% increase in passengers during the first quarter, setting a new enplanement record despite slower overall growth — officials will continue to monitor travel trends.  Rapid City Journal

  • Central High School hosted a Community Night Tuesday evening for families and students from both Central and North Middle School, which featured a meal, local service booths, and a talk by TEDx speaker Jake Danielson.   • Yesterday, Ellsworth AFB held its first Warrant Officer Ceremony in over 45 years when Chief Warrant Officer II Jeffery Korhonen was promoted as one of 60 cyber experts picked from over 1,000 applicants—he said the process was faster than expected—and marked the return of a program that ended in 1958. The base will use these experts to keep its cyber team ready for future missions.  KELOLAND
