COMMUNITY NEWS

  • New signs now show the way to Dinosaur Park in Rapid City. City officials installed the updated signage today (as part of a broader effort to improve local navigation) to help residents and visitors reach this local landmark.  Rapid City Journal

BUSINESS NEWS

  • WalletHub released its report today naming Rapid City as one of the best small cities to start a business — the study compared over 1,300 cities using key indicators such as financing access, labor costs and growth rates.  KBHB

CULTURE NEWS

  • Rapid City's public is invited to vote on youth artwork submitted for the 150th anniversary contest. Residents can review the entries and choose their favorite piece to celebrate this milestone.  Rapid City Journal

ECONOMY NEWS

  • Gas prices in South Dakota rose 11.1 cents, reaching an average of $3.63/g today. Prices are now 43.3 cents higher than last month and 63.8 cents above last year, and analysts warn global supply issues may push them higher later this week.  KBHB

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • Interagency teams worked on Sunday to contain the 79 Fire, now measured at 5,408 acres and sixty percent contained. The grass fire started Saturday near Hwy 79 in E. Custer County and burned over seven miles without damaging any structures as crews continued to extinguish hidden hotspots.  KBHB

SPORTS NEWS

  • Rapid City Post 320 opened their legion season on Sunday with wins over Sheridan. They won the first game 11-3 and the second game 8-7, with Max Speed hitting key homers (one three-run and one solo) to help secure the victories.  KBHB
  • On Sunday, the Rapid City Rush clinched a five to four overtime win when defenseman Clay Hanus scored his second goal, ending the Utah Grizzlies’ history (after 31 seasons) at the Maverik Center. The Rush will host the Tahoe Knight Monsters for their season's final two games.  KBHB
  • BHSU faced windy conditions at The Golf Club at Red Rocks on April 13; after an early +26 by the fourth hole, they rallied to shoot 357 +69 and finish fourth ahead of Minot State.  KBHB
