ECONOMY NEWS
- ➤ GasBuddy’s survey of 628 stations shows that today South Dakota’s average gasoline price dropped 2.1 cents to $2.99 per gallon, though it still is 11.8 cents higher than a month ago and 34.5 cents lower than last year. The cheapest station charged $2.42 per gallon while the priciest was $3.69 per gallon (a difference of $1.27). KBHB
ENVIRONMENT NEWS
- ➤ Area fire crews battled three small wildfires over the weekend on private land in Crook, Lawrence and Pennington counties — the largest, the Burn Pile #3 fire, burned 5 acres south of Sundance and was contained by 7:00 p.m. Sunday. The Ditch Fire near Spearish and the Falling Rock Fire near Johnson Siding burned 2 and 0.1 acres respectively — both fires were quickly controlled with help from Federal, State and Local resources. GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ A town hall meeting is taking place tonight at the Dahl Arts Center in Rapid City—hosted by former USDA Rural Development Director Nikki Gronli to let residents share their concerns, with feedback set to be passed to local members of Congress. Additional meetings are scheduled in Sioux Falls, Vermillion, and Aberdeen on upcoming dates. KELOLAND
- ➤ Senator Mike Rounds explained his new bill last Monday at the Best Western Ramkota Hotel in Rapid City, saying the legislation will dismantle the federal Department of Education and return its programs to state control. He said the measure would save taxpayers over $2 billion by ending federal bureaucracy — critics worry it may reduce support for programs like Title I and Native American education — and the bill still awaits Congressional approval. - ➤ Rapid City Post 22 baseball opened their season over the weekend—winning the first two games against Sheridan on Saturday and a 12-0 win on Sunday. Pitcher Rowan Fredrickson allowed one hit and one walk while striking out ten in a complete game—improving the team to a 3-0 record. KBHB
- ➤ The BHSU Yellow Jackets split the series with UCCS—Tyler Whitlock hit a late three-run home run to secure a 3-1 win in game three while the team lost game four 7-5, keeping them in fifth place in the RMAC. KBHB
