- ➤ A fact brief clarifies that Black Elk Peak in the Black Hills, renamed from Harney Peak in 2016, stands at 7,231 feet — although taller peaks exist in Greenland and Spain, it remains the highest point east of the Rockies in the United States. South Dakota News Watch
