  • RCFD’s Wildland Fuels Module is rapidly growing to offer veterans new roles with career development + physical and mental wellness programs that aim to reduce wildfire risks in the community.  Rapid City Journal

CRIME NEWS

  • South Dakota Game, Fish and Parks officials are investigating the removal of a mountain goat's head and neck at the base of Bridal Veil Falls on April 8—tips can be submitted to help solve the case.  KBHB

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Meade 46-1 held an informational meeting Wednesday night where Superintendent Wayne Wormstadt discussed the Homeschool Connection Program that offers K-8 curriculum and academic support tailored to each student's needs. Enrollment is first-come, first-served with a limit of 30 full-time spots (for district residents and eligible open-enrolled families).  KBHB

SPORTS NEWS

  • Athletes at Track-O-Rama on Thursday at O’Harra Stadium broke multiple meet records, including a state record of 47.56 seconds by the Stevens 4×100-meter relay team, while other events also reached new highs.  KBHB
  • The Black Hills State University track teams competed on Thursday in California, where Evie Boyd broke a 21-year-old record in the 3,000m steeplechase at the Leopard Invitational, Gavin Kuhlenbeck ran the fourth-fastest 10,000m time in school history, and Turner Christians won the 10,000m title at La Verne’s Ortmayer Stadium.  KBHB
  • On April 17, the Black Hills State Yellow Jackets (20-23, 17-15 RMAC) met the UCCS Mountain Lions in Colorado Springs as they tried to end a series losing streak after last year’s RMAC tournament exit.  KBHB
  • Black Hills State University rodeo teams competed at the Jackrabbit Stampede last Friday and Saturday. Haley Husted won the goat tying event while the men's team finished eighth in tie-down roping with 110 points and the women's team tied for fifth with 150 points.  KBHB
