- ➤ Defense attorney Martha Rossiter said that Derrek Brave Heart’s manslaughter conviction for shooting an intoxicated attacker who struck him repeatedly in his car raises questions about state self-defense law+video evidence shows he waited before firing his legally owned pistol, with sentencing scheduled for early May+. - ➤ Rapid City Police, Fire Department, Highway Patrol, and the SD DCI Bomb Squad responded to a suspicious package report in the Sam’s Club parking lot Tuesday afternoon around 12:30 p.m.—the bomb squad x-rayed the item, found it not to be a threat, and retained it for further investigation. KBHB

- ➤ Rapid City raised Pactola Reservoir’s status to 'concern status' due to low water levels and inflows, and water restrictions will begin today until the end of August — restrictions include no watering from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. daily and using odd-even rules — officials said. KBHB

- ➤ On Tuesday at O’Harra Stadium, area track athletes competed at the Cobbler Invite where Custer’s Danny Immormino won the 100 meters and long jump and Maxon Speed won the 200 meters. Rapid City Stevens won the 400 and 800 meters and Rapid City Christian and Central claimed relay victories—other events saw winners in field events including girls like Ava Erpenbach and Custer’s Kelsey Stiefel.
