Amanda Takes War Bonnett-Beauvais, an Oglala Lakota genealogy researcher and former journalist, was honored on Friday at the South Dakota Historical Society conference in Deadwood with the Governor’s Award for History for her work in uncovering family histories—she uses her research to help Lakota youth connect with their heritage.
