- ➤ I.Am.Legacy, a grassroots reentry program for system-impacted families, held the Monday, May 11 'From Chains to Ceremony' conference at the Ramkota to offer tools for overcoming employment and housing barriers; the nonprofit now provides wellness programs and cultural outings to support community healing (open to all). - ➤ Rapid City officials detailed the list of over 20 items for a time capsule burial set for May 29 (the capsule is planned to be opened in 2076). Rapid City Journal

- ➤ Tim Duffy, a veteran first responder and longtime motorcycle enthusiast, will serve as Grand Marshal at this summer’s Sturgis Motorcycle Rally in the Black Hills (fulfilling a lifelong bucket list and honoring a legacy of service). KBHB
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ Three local Native American students from the Oglala Sioux Tribe + Rosebud Sioux Tribe, including Rapid City's Latoya Stead, graduated today from Chamberlain High School with support from St. Joseph’s Indian School. - ➤ Conservation groups, tribal leaders, and ranchers are meeting in Washington, D.C. during Bison Impact Week to urge greater access to native grasslands and improved buffalo restoration rules while highlighting Rapid City's rising role in bison research. Native Sun News

- ➤ On Wednesday, the USTFCCCA named three Black Hills State University Yellow Jackets for ranking in the top-5 in their events, recognizing Gretchen Adamski and Lauryn Bennett in the pole vault and Cassidy Goddard in the discus throw. KBHB
- ➤ At Thursday’s Black Hills Conference Championship track and field meet in Custer, Sturgis’ Seth Burton won the 100, 200, and 400 meter dashes while teammates and competitors from Hill City and Spearfish claimed additional titles (showing strong local talent). KBHB
- ➤ Rapid City Stevens swept cross-town rival Rapid City Central 9-0 in all singles and doubles matches Thursday in prep tennis, while Spearfish lost against St Thomas More and Rapid City Christian on the same day. KBHB
- ➤ On Thursday, the Stevens girls softball team lost 14-9 to the Harrisburg Tigers while the Raiders won 4-3 against Tea Area. In additional action, Spearfish lost 20-0 to Jefferson and 17-3 to Sioux Falls Lincoln. KBHB
