  • The Rapid City Fire Department is hosting its Annual Fill the Boot Drive from May 21 to May 23 from 9 a.m. to noon plus 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. at both Walmarts, Family Fare on East Saint Patrick Street plus Family Fare at Baken Park.  Rapid City Journal

CRIME NEWS

  • A Rapid City woman pleaded not guilty to manslaughter after prosecutors said she fatally stabbed her mother with scissors on April 7th, and her next court appearance is set for July 24th—she could face life in prison if convicted.  KBHB

  • Sen. John Thune spoke in Congress to mark 20 years since the Pentagon proposed closing Ellsworth Air Force Base on May 13—he recalled how community leaders and hard work saved the base and underlined its continued role in national defense.  Rapid City Journal
  • On Friday, Ellsworth's 28th Special Forces Squadron and Box Elder Police Department gathered to commemorate fallen officers—honoring their sacrifice—and mark police appreciation week.  Rapid City Journal
