COMMUNITY NEWS

  • Officials say increased traffic is expected at Rapid City cemeteries this weekend as visitors may leave items at gravesites at Mountain View and Mt. Calvary starting Saturday—officials advise care.  Rapid City Journal

CRIME NEWS

  • A Rapid City woman was arrested on May 18 when police pulled her from her car after she led a chase by smoking drugs in a glass pipe — she faces nine charges including DUI and eluding police — after driving without headlights.  KBHB
  • A Rapid City man charged with attempted murder and simple assault made his initial court appearance on Tuesday—Garrett Otto, 29, allegedly stabbed two people and assaulted a third at a makeshift camp under I-190 where a $100,000 cash bond and a no-contact order were set as the victims received treatment for serious injuries.  KBHB

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Today, Rapid City Council unanimously voted against a $27.96 million TIF district for Robbinsdale because of concerns over rising property taxes—officials said future urban renewal projects should be funded through the Capital Improvement Plan.  Rapid City Journal

SPORTS NEWS

  • Post 33 lost 12-0 to Post 22 in a Titans American Legion season opener at Strong Field on Wednesday. The Hardhats secured the win with a six-run first inning and added runs in the following innings under a 10-run mercy rule while Dawson Inhofer pitched effectively; Post 33 will face Rapid City Post 320 on Friday at 5 p.m.  KBHB
  • Rapid City Post 22 pulled away late Tuesday night to beat rival Post 320 10—3, with pitcher Rowan Fredrickson giving up one unearned run on four hits in six innings. The Hardhats played Wednesday night in Sturgis as they took on the Post 33 Titans.  KBHB
