COMMUNITY NEWS
- ➤ At Black Hills National Cemetery near Sturgis, thousands of family members paid respects to fallen veterans as volunteers placed a flag on every grave during the annual ceremony — an effort that honors those who gave their lives. Organizer Kris Mattson and retired Air Force member Rick Johnson said the event helps visitors of all ages remember the sacrifice made for freedom. KELOLAND
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ St. Thomas More High School celebrated the graduation of 34 students Sunday afternoon at the Rapid City cathedral — the ceremony began with a baccalaureate mass at 2 p.m. led by Bishop Scott E. Bullock. Rapid City Journal
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ State government boards and commissions began a week of public meetings on Monday, May 26 when state offices closed for Memorial Day. Today, meetings such as the Economic Advisors Council teleconference at 9 a.m. CT and the Education Standards Board in Pierre are underway, and additional sessions will occur Wednesday, Thursday, Friday and next Monday across teleconference and in-person locations + inviting public participation.
