GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ The U.S. Forest Service signed a five-year agreement with the state Department of Agriculture and Natural Resources in the Black Hills to manage forests through timber harvesting, prescribed burning and other projects. The deal, announced Friday, aims to lower wildfire risk and balance logging needs amid local debate. KBHB
- ➤ Asphalt paving will begin tomorrow on Highway 16A in Custer State Park using pilot cars & flaggers, and delays will affect motorists along the 13-mile stretch between the park entrances. Further work including culvert replacements and guardrail installation will continue until Oct. 30. KBHB
