- ➤ After more than 18 months of closure, the Sugar Shack in the Black Hills is back up and running, now serving breakfast, lunch and dinner with 14 extra seats available. Owner Trevor Kautzman said the new design feels both familiar and improved + customer support has been strong since reopening. KELOLAND
CULTURE NEWS
- ➤ A new bronze sculpture called Tiwahe, meaning family in Lakota, was installed Saturday morning at the Beverly Stabber Warne Memorial Plaza to honor Native children who died at the boarding school; the design features handprints and symbols representing nearly 50 children. The project was funded by the Andrew W. Mellon Foundation — the Dakota Charitable Foundation also contributed — and the memorial site is set to expand with additional statues and a healing center.
