CRIME NEWS

  • At around 2 a.m. on Sunday, Rapid City Police Department responded to a report at 1720 N. Seventh St. in Galaxy Apartments after a man was shot in his foot.  Rapid City Journal

ECONOMY NEWS

  • Gasoline prices in South Dakota averaged $2.88 per gallon today—4 cents lower in the last week, 9.8 cents off a month ago, and 37 cents below last year’s rate. GasBuddy reports the national average is now $3.09 per gallon with similar declines noted across the region.  KBHB

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • For 61 years, the South Dakota Wildlife Federation’s Youth Conservation Camp has taught high school students outdoor skills and conservation techniques. The campers worked to clean Rapid Creek and mitigate beaver impacts + many former campers now serve as counselors to help new students learn these skills.  KELOLAND

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • On Monday, the South Dakota Cosmetology Commission unanimously approved a proposal to raise fees for cosmetologists, including increases in exam and license renewal fees that will add an estimated $237,385 in revenue. The package now awaits final clearance from the Legislature’s Rules Review Committee on June 10—changes that could affect over 2,000 license holders.  KELOLAND

HEALTH NEWS

  • Health officials reported that an adult in Meade County tested positive for measles after traveling internationally. The patient visited Rapid City Medical Center Urgent Care on May 28 from 7:15 a.m. to 10 a.m. and Monument Health Sturgis Urgent Care on May 29 from 9:45 a.m. to 3 p.m., and people in these locations are asked to monitor for symptoms for 21 days.  KBHB
