- ➤ Rescue crews from Rapid Valley, Whispering Pines, Johnson Siding and Pennington County Search and Rescue helped an injured hiker who fell and hurt their ankle at Hippie Hole Saturday evening— the patient was taken to the hospital. KELOLAND

- ➤ Data show South Dakota's income gap is wide, with top earners requiring an annual income of $549,189 while median households earned $81,740 in 2023, and the top 10% earned 216% more than typical households + tax incentives attract upper-income groups. KBHB
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ The State Bar of South Dakota will let attorneys vote on mandatory continuing legal education at the annual bar convention in Rapid City on June 20—if approved, lawyers will need to complete 20 hours of training every two years starting in 2027. Attorney Seamus Culhane and others expressed concern that without updated training, some lawyers might not keep pace with changes in the law. South Dakota News Watch
- ➤ Black Hills Energy is developing a Public Safety Power Shutoff program to cut power during high wildfire risk as part of its broader Wildfire Mitigation Strategy and plans to have the system ready by mid-summer.
