  • Governor Rhoden led a trade mission to Israel this week with a delegation of defense and agriculture firms and met with top officials like President Isaac Herzog, Speaker Amir Ohana, and Foreign Minister Gideon Sa’ar, resulting in millions in sales and a strong future pipeline. He also joined a wreath laying at Yad Vashem — a gesture that underscores his commitment to deepening international business ties while a reception hosted by Ambassador Mike Huckabee is planned.  KBHB

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • South Dakota Supreme Court Justice Janine M. Kern said she will retire from the bench on December 8, leaving her role after serving as a circuit judge since 1996 and as a Supreme Court justice since 2014—Governor Larry Rhoden noted that her commitment to justice set a high standard for future appointees.  KBHB
  • Residents in Box Elder saw Marine Corps MV-22B Ospreys fly overhead on Tuesday evening—several aircraft including one tracked leaving Rapid City shortly before 6 p.m. at 5,000 feet were part of a military training exercise near Ellsworth Air Force Base.  KBHB
  • Rapid City's population is now estimated at 84,930—a 3.05% increase from last year—with over 10,200 more residents than in 2020, city officials said. The Long Range Planning Division used building permits, demolitions, and census data to plan for future community needs.  KBHB
