- ➤ Community healing began as local members gathered to unveil Tiwahe at the Remembering the Children Memorial where Wizipan Little Elk Garriott recounted the painful history of the boarding school and forced removal of Indigenous children. He said acknowledgement is the first step to repair—next steps include returning land to the Lakota Oyate and boosting language and cultural programs to help the community move forward.
