BUSINESS NEWS

  • A nationwide bookstore will open a new Barnes and Noble location in Rapid City next Wednesday. The store—located at Rushmore Crossing near T.J. Maxx—will open at 10 a.m. with local children’s author Sean Covel cutting the ribbon and signing copies of his book.  KELOLAND

CRIME NEWS

  • A Rapid City woman was arrested for attempted murder after she assaulted a church employee—police are investigating the incident.  Rapid City Journal
  • Pennington County Sheriff’s Office is searching for Mark Craig Daniels from Greeley, CO—wanted in connection with a recent robbery and last seen in Keystone wearing a black t-shirt, gray pants, and a bright red cast—and police warn that he is armed and dangerous.  KBHB

CULTURE NEWS

  • Gloria Tramontin Struck, a 100-year-old motorcycling pioneer, will serve as Grand Marshal of the 85th Sturgis Motorcycle Rally. Sturgis Mayor Kevin Forrester said she embodies freedom and tradition—her riding career spans over 700,000 miles across decades of dedication.  KBHB

ECONOMY NEWS

  • Dakota Gold released an assessment for its Richmond Hill project northwest of Lead in the northern Black Hills, indicating the mine could produce between 2.6 million and 3.9 million ounces of gold over 17 to 28 years if production begins as soon as 2029. The project would require $384 million in initial investment and a large-scale mine permit from the state—factors that could create hundreds of jobs and up to $600 million in state severance taxes.  KBHB

  • New Rapid City Council members were sworn in today – the board elected a president and vice president during the ceremony, and they will guide upcoming council decisions. The leadership change is expected to shape local government actions.  Rapid City Journal

  • Post 22 Baseball is celebrating 100 years of American Legion Baseball with a rich legacy that includes an 18-season state title streak and a National Championship.
