CRIME NEWS
- ➤ 35-year-old Evan John Bobtail Bear from Little Eagle was sentenced to five years in prison after pleading guilty to involuntary manslaughter for punching his brother during an argument in May 2024—his brother later died in a North Dakota hospital after his head struck a concrete driveway. - ➤ Courtney Martinez is on trial for second-degree murder and child abuse after 7-week-old Aiko White Eagle died in November, with key testimonies showing delays in calling for help—trial proceedings are set to resume Monday at 8:30 a.m. at the Pennington County Courthouse. Rapid City Journal

- ➤ The council will vote on whether to loan tax dollars to Libertyland USA—projected by Storyland Studios to be a mixed use residential destination district. Rapid City Journal
SPORTS NEWS
- ➤ Rachel Erickson, head coach of BHSU Women’s Basketball, announced on Friday morning that she is stepping down to pursue a coaching career at the NCAA Division I level. In her first season, she led the Yellow Jackets to an 18-11 record and a RMAC Tournament semifinal finish. KBHB
- ➤ Rapid City Post 22 finished regular season play by sweeping Sioux Falls West on Thursday and Sioux Falls East on Friday in doubleheader games as playoffs loom next week—Wyatt Reeder had three hits in game two.
