- ➤ The 3rd Annual Ag Appreciation event will take place at the Central States Fair on August 18th and will honor ag producers with a complimentary meal, awards presentation and speeches from U.S. Congressmen John Thune and Dusty Johnson. Local sponsors and figures such as Governor Rhoden will attend and free parking will be available on the west side of the fairgrounds — a tribute to the local agriculture community. KBHB
CRIME NEWS
- ➤ Rapid City Police arrested an 18-year-old male Saturday after he allegedly broke a window at a business on E. Saint Patrick Street and then fled in a passenger vehicle that crashed into a large rock at the intersection of E. Saint Patrick and Cherry Avenue—he now faces charges including felony vandalism, motor vehicle theft and eluding. KBHB
- ➤ Rapid City police arrested five individuals—Lewis Newholy, Tad Clark, Jessie Dreamer, Christine Bordeaux, and Daniel Whiteeyes—for stealing two bottles of liquor from a business on E. Saint Patrick Street Friday afternoon after the suspects fled in a vehicle stopped on E. Highway 44. KBHB
ENVIRONMENT NEWS
- ➤ A new USGS study says some Black Hills aquifers are not refilling fast enough to meet growing water demands — city leaders had already imposed water-use restrictions at Pactola Reservoir when levels dropped low this spring. The report supports plans for a future $2 billion Missouri River pipeline that will bring water to Rapid City and other areas facing shortages. South Dakota News Watch

- ➤ The Rapid City Council scheduled a special session to discuss the first reading of the proposed 2026 City budget—held at 5 p.m. next Monday in Council Chambers at City Hall. A follow-up public meeting will be held at 6:30 p.m. the same evening. KBHB
