- ➤ During a July meeting, the Rapid City Council unanimously passed Mayor Jason Salamun's first reading of the 2026 $337 million city budget plan—raising concerns about higher interdepartmental charges for the mayor and Council's offices. The plan shows a $3.3 million decrease in the mayor's budget and a 4.4% boost in the General Fund—and it is set for a second reading on Sept. 2. Rapid City Journal
