- ➤ Crook County authorities are searching for Linda Thacker, a missing St Onge woman last seen on Aug 18 after her vehicle was found in Boundary Gulch in Wyoming, and search teams from Wyoming and South Dakota—including three specialized K9 units—remain active today and will continue their work tomorrow. - ➤ A Rapid City man was sentenced for sexual contact incapable of consent after pleading guilty as part of an agreement with the Pennington County State's Attorney's Office. Rapid City Journal
- ➤ A Rapid City man, Michael “Texas” Cole, 34, pleaded guilty to a drug charge and will serve 20 years in federal prison followed by five years of supervised release — he was involved in a conspiracy from January to February that saw him travel to Colorado to buy drugs and then distribute methamphetamine and fentanyl locally. - ➤ Philip Wind Partners is planning a wind-power project in Haakon County with up to 87 towers that will generate 300 megawatts to power thousands of homes and businesses. The project must receive a permit from the South Dakota Public Utilities Commission, which will start reviewing the application today—marking an important step for future energy development. KELOLAND
- ➤ A new report from the South Dakota Department of Labor and Regulation shows the state had 50,200 potential workers as of July, with 9,345 unemployed, 39,235 already employed yet willing to change jobs, and 1,610 discouraged—Rapid City accounts for 9,285 of these workers. The data suggests that employers’ reported shortages may stem more from issues with job quality, pay and location than from a lack of available labor. KBHB
