- ➤ A 21-year-old Sturgis man was sentenced to 30 years in prison Friday after pleading guilty but mentally ill to attempted murder when he fired three shots at a police center and two at an officer—he caused hearing damage and emotional trauma and was ordered to pay over $12,800 in restitution. - ➤ Rapid City Stevens High School seniors Sakurako Tinant and Arabella Scott received South Dakota Seals of Biliteracy at a school ceremony on Thursday, marking RCAS’s first year offering the program while alumna Olivia Miller had already earned her seal. The seals honor proficiency in English and another language—Japanese for Tinant and Spanish for Scott—and are part of a state initiative launched last year to recognize biliteracy. Rapid City Journal
