  • Trav’s Outfitter will open a 33,000-square-foot store in Rapid City at Dakota Market Square on Monday, September 8 at 8 a.m.—the store, owned by Travas Uthe and managed by local native Dusty Hirsch, will add 40 new local jobs and plan a grand opening celebration on Tuesday, October 7.  KBHB

CRIME NEWS

  • Kadell Richard — a 31-year-old from Pine Ridge — was sentenced to two years in prison on Aug. 29 after she pleaded guilty on June 9 for her part in a meth trafficking conspiracy that operated between Oct. 2023 and April 2024 on the Pine Ridge reservation and other areas of South Dakota.  KELOLAND

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • South Dakota Wildlife Division head Tom Kirschenmann said hunters may harvest up to 1.5 million pheasants this season thanks to excellent weather and habitat conditions—an increase over last year's 1.3 million wild birds taken. The 2025 hunting schedule starts on September 20 for grouse and includes a youth-only pheasant period from September 27.  KELOLAND
