- ➤ Sioux Falls native Billy Mawhiney is running in 2026 for Congress with a focus on quality education, affordable child care and health care as a right. He will listen to voters on a gravel road tour and face Nikki Gronli, Casey Crabtree and Marty Jackley in the primary on June 2 and the general election on Nov. 3. KELOLAND
- ➤ The Rapid City Journal partnered with the Veterans Honor Banner and America 250 Projects on Saturday to share the story of Major General Franklin Otis Carroll. He was an air war engineer who helped build better Army planes in both World Wars—his contributions are now honored with a veteran banner in Rapid City. Rapid City Journal

- ➤ KELOLAND's Dan Santella and 11 runners will launch The 437 Project—honoring National Suicide Prevention Awareness Month—by starting a cross-state journey on September 25 in Rapid City and ending in Sioux Falls on September 28. The project will include community events like yard games, raffles, and food stops and was featured in a KELOLAND Media Group studio interview with Dr. David Ermer, Chantelle Friedman, and project leader Kelly Marshall. - ➤ South Dakota hospitals received solid quality ratings in 2025 as three facilities earned 5 stars from CMS while most scored 3 or 4 stars—Monument Health Rapid City Hospital notably improved from a 1-star rating last year to a 4-star rating today.
