COMMUNITY NEWS

  • The 60th annual Governor's Buffalo Roundup will take place Friday in Custer State Park—organizers say the event is expected to round up 1,400 bison as part of a long-running wildlife management tradition.  Rapid City Journal
  • Red Rock Bar and Grill in Rowena hosted its final Bike Night on Wednesday night at 6, raising funds for Children’s Home Society with a 50/50 jackpot drawing of up to $20,000. Owner Mitch Runge said rainouts led to lower turnout this season but promised Bike Night will return in 2026—continuing the summer fundraising tradition.  KELOLAND

  • Photos show bison roaming Custer State Park as locals prepare for the 60th Buffalo Roundup on Friday— an event that celebrates a time-honored tradition.  Rapid City Journal

  • Tariffs and an ongoing trade war are pushing volatility in the ag economy—soybean and corn farmers face low prices while cattle ranchers enjoy record revenues. Sen. Mike Rounds warned that without new trade deals by 2026, struggling farmers may face even higher input costs.  South Dakota News Watch

EDUCATION NEWS

  • The Dollar General Literacy Foundation awarded a $10,000 grant to the Career Learning Center of the Black Hills to add a new morning ESL class—this step comes after the evening class reached full capacity with 31 participants and a waitlist.  KBHB

  • A judge ruled against efforts to close the respite center in Rapid City—keeping it open to help local families.  Rapid City Journal

HEALTH NEWS

  • Monument Health & Dakota Radiology broke ground on Sept. 24 on a 12000 square foot expansion of their jointly operated clinic at 2929 5th Street in Rapid City. The project will boost patient care services in the area.  Rapid City Journal

SPORTS NEWS

  • Today, The 437 Project will kick off its annual run from the Wyoming border to the Iowa border at 5:30 a.m. with Dan Santella leading 11 other runners in a relay honoring late Brady Fuchs—raising funds and awareness for the Sioux Falls-based Helpline Center.  KELOLAND
  • On Tuesday night, Rapid City Stevens boys soccer team beat Rapid City Central 9 to 0 as Miles Wright scored a hat trick and Matthew Grubic added two goals and two assists. The win improved their record to 10 to 1 to 1 and marked coach Jeff Fierro's 100th varsity game.  KBHB
