The Journey Museum in Rapid City will open the free Lakota Contemporary art exhibition on October 9 with an opening reception from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. in the Adelstein Gallery and the exhibit will run through May 8—featuring intergenerational works curated by Marty Two-Bulls Jr.—with additional interactive programs during Free Community Weekend on October 11 and 12.

On Thursday, Jessica Pollema of South Dakota Canvassing Group called for all seven members of the state Board of Elections—including Secretary of State Monae Johnson—to resign and for the board to be abolished after it refused to rule on a petition about laptop use in auditor offices, while Rick Weible said he would refile his complaint under the federal Help America Vote Act following the board’s unanimous decision that it lacked jurisdiction.
