  • After more than three decades at KELOLAND News, veteran anchor and reporter Don Jorgensen will retire at the end of November—he covered major events such as the governor Mickelson plane crash and severe weather events. His long career and strong connection with local viewers have marked him as a respected figure in our community.  KELOLAND
  • Rapid City's Be Cool campaign enters its second year as local groups + including Pennington County Human Services, Journey On, Woyatan Church, Mobile Medic, and Cornerstone Mission meet every Thursday to offer warming centers, transport, and bedding for homeless residents during winter.  KELOLAND

BUSINESS NEWS

  • He Sapa Vintage will celebrate its grand re-opening in November—after owner Caitlin Hein moved out of the 523 Seventh St. location—so another vintage business can use the space.  Rapid City Journal

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Starting Monday, Oct. 20th, 2025, U.S. Highway 385 from the south end of Pactola Dam to Taylor Ranch Road will be closed to through traffic for construction that will finish in March 2026—local accesses to Victoria Lake Road, McCurdy Gulch Road, and both approaches to Pactola Reservoir remain open with a detour along S.D. Highway 44 and U.S. Highway 16.  KBHB

HEALTH NEWS

  • After a legal battle and extensive renovations, the Rapid City respite center opened—patients will begin using the facility next week.  Rapid City Journal

SPORTS NEWS

  • On Thursday night, Rapid City Central won the cheer grand champion title at the Sturgis Invitational with 187 points—Rapid City Stevens scored 166.5 and Sturgis 157.5. The team also earned the grand champion dance title with 351 points by capturing the Pom and Hip Hop categories ahead of Rapid City Stevens and Spearfish.  KBHB
