  • The city is asking local residents to submit artwork for a chance to be displayed on a new bus — the contest seeks creative designs that capture the spirit of our community.  Rapid City Journal
  • Darcy Lynn Hart — a devoted husband, father, and longtime Brink Construction operator with a passion for horses — passed away peacefully on October 8. A private burial for his immediate family will be held and a celebration of his life will take place at Lifeway Church in Rapid City on October 25th at 11:00 AM with lunch provided afterward.  KBHB

CULTURE NEWS

  • NDN Collective, a Native American-led nonprofit, hosted its annual Indigenous People's Day celebration in Rapid City on Monday—featuring a march, music, and vendors. The event brought community members together to honor Native heritage and culture.  Rapid City Journal
  • Today, a huge crowd gathered for the eighth annual Remembering the Children Walk on Indigenous Peoples' Day & speakers like Remembering the Children Memorial Executive Director Amy Sazue and tribal leaders discussed jurisdiction issues at the boarding school memorial site.  Rapid City Journal
  • Community members gathered in Rapid City during the Black Hills Powwow and Indigenous Peoples’ Day, where five events — traditional dance, craft demonstrations, music, storytelling and food tastings — honored indigenous heritage.  Rapid City Journal
