  • The Black Hills Area Council, Scouting America, is holding its 39th annual Scouting for Food Drive today — it will take place over two weekends in November in Rapid City.  Rapid City Journal

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Rapid City Area Schools received a $3.1 million grant to boost literacy programs—tests showed English language arts scores were below the state average and the district will use the funds to improve instruction.  Rapid City Journal

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • South Dakotans in the SNAP program will receive full benefits on Monday as the Department of Social Services said nearly 37,000 households will get their complete allotment for November - the decision follows federal guidance after a judge ruled against delaying benefits. The move ensures that families retain access to food during this government shutdown.  KELOLAND

SPORTS NEWS

  • Rapid City Rush lost 5-4 in overtime to the Tahoe Knight Monsters at The Monument Ice Arena on Wednesday after a second period that saw them lead 4-2. Jake McGrew scored the overtime winner with under two minutes remaining—marking a tough loss after a season-high 46 shots.  KBHB
