COMMUNITY NEWS

  • The Club for Boys in Rapid City said it is here to help struggling families by offering essential support and resources—those in need can contact the organization for more information.  Rapid City Journal

ECONOMY NEWS

  • Rapid City, Pierre and Eastern Railroad nears completion of a multi-year upgrade of its main line from Fort Pierre to Rapid City. An $84 million investment from the U.S. Department of Transportation, state funds and RCPE will allow trains to increase speeds from 25 mph to 40 mph, offering improved service for local businesses.  KBHB

EDUCATION NEWS

  • At the November meeting Monday night, the Meade 46-1 School Board voted 6-3 to close Atall School—driven by a nearly $1.25 million budget gap—and kept Hereford School open. They also approved a 5-4 plan to move Whitewood Elementary's fifth grade students to Sturgis.  KBHB

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • Northern Lights lit up the sky Tuesday evening as shades of green, red and yellow shone over South Dakota—viewers sent in photos to share on air and online.  KELOLAND

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • The state Department of Social Services said that 37,000 households on SNAP will see partial benefits on their EBT cards today. The remaining November benefits will be issued later when the federal shutdown ends (amounts were not disclosed).  KELOLAND

  • Meadowbrook and Executive Golf Courses in Rapid City are preparing for winter play as only a few days remain of summer and fall play—new rules will take effect when winter begins.  Rapid City Journal
