  • South Dakota youth excelled at the NJHA Fed Steer Shootout during the 2025 World Hereford Conference in Kansas City + the Frederickson brothers from Spearfish won the Champion Pen-of-Three Purebred Hereford steer award while contestants earned over $15,000 in scholarships and honors.  KBHB

  • Today, The HomeSlice Group announced it has partnered with Central States Fair to market the Black Hills Stock Show & Rodeo® and the Central States Fair, events that are key to local traditions and the economy. The agreement is effective immediately—introducing new promotional strategies to the region—and aims to attract more visitors.  KBHB

ECONOMY NEWS

  • South Dakota corn and soybean farmers nearly finished harvesting with record yields despite tariff concerns. Some farms still have 600 acres left to harvest and officials expect that an upcoming trade deal and pending farm bill will help boost profits — a promising sign for local agriculture.  KELOLAND

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • The Northern Lights lit up the sky across KELOLAND, with green, pink, and yellow hues visible in Rapid City and other areas. Local viewers sent photos via uShare — sharing the natural spectacle with the community.  KELOLAND

SPORTS NEWS

  • Black Hills State Yellow Jackets lost a three-set match to South Dakota Mines Hardrockers as the first set ended 25 to 9, the second 25 to 23, and the third 25 to 16 plus the loss marked their second defeat of the season. The Hardrockers improved their conference record to 7 to 5 and continued their RMAC Tournament run.  KBHB
  • Tuesday night, the SoDak 16 tournament saw Rapid City Christian beat Groton in a five-set match and St Thomas More defeat Miller to earn spots in next week’s state volleyball tournament — both teams advanced with strong plays in Class A action.  KBHB
