- ➤ On the Cheyenne River Reservation in Eagle Butte, Austin Sanchez uses a local boxing club as a safe place — where he both fights and coaches — and also works in law enforcement after battling addiction, while Kodene One Skunk, a mother of seven, helps run meetings and volunteers as she rebuilds her life. Both found help at Wakpa Waste Counseling Center, with Sanchez set to mark seven years sober this December as One Skunk remains five years clean. KELOLAND
HEALTH NEWS
- ➤ Sanford Health will invest $300 million to build the new Sanford Black Hills Medical Center campus in Rapid City—this investment will bring expanded health care services to local residents. Rapid City Journal
- ➤ Be Here, a local group working with the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention (AFSP), is in its second year after raising over $3,000 for local mental health resources. It will host a Talk Saves Lives event (free to all) on November 22nd at Pure Bean Coffee to help the community learn more about mental health support. KELOLAND
