ACCIDENTS NEWS
- ➤ Firefighters halted forward progress on two fires on Skyline Drive at 1:30 p.m. after reports of a possible transformer explosion and downed power lines prompted a multi-agency response + including regional fire crews, with no evacuations, damage, or public threat reported. KBHB
- ➤ Firefighters battled a 200-acre fire 2 miles east of Keystone last night north of Highway 40, where several homes faced evacuation notices that were later lifted and the road reopened. KBHB
CULTURE NEWS
- ➤ The Lakota Nation Invitational Art Show will feature nearly 1,000 artworks by young emerging artists to showcase the best for kids and families. The exhibit brings a vibrant art experience to the community (highlighting support for local talent). Rapid City Journal
ENVIRONMENT NEWS
- ➤ High winds today left thousands without power in and around Rapid City — Black Hills Energy said at least 16,000 customers are affected as crews work to clear debris and secure hazardous roads. KBHB
SPORTS NEWS
- ➤ The Idaho Steelheads beat Rapid City Rush 7-1 at Idaho Central Arena on Wednesday as Idaho scored in all three periods, while the Rush’s only goal came early in the second period. The loss marked Rapid City’s third straight defeat this season. KBHB
- ➤ Black Hills State Yellow Jackets broke RMAC records in their Puerto Rico Clasico game against the Pioneros, recording 61 rebounds, 26 assists, and only four fouls — the historic win achieved a 91-33 victory and marked the largest margin since 2017. KBHB
- ➤ Girls and boys basketball contests opened Wednesday at the Lakota Nation Invitational in Rapid City, where teams from local schools posted scores including Cheyenne-Eagle Butte 63+ Lakota Tech 40 in the boys’ game and Cheyenne-Eagle Butte 60+ Little Wound 48 in the girls’ game. KBHB
