The Meade County Senior Citizens Center in Sturgis is raising funds to repair and upgrade its parking lot for safer access (ADA compliant) while hosting summer flea markets and vendor events to boost community engagement.

City officials announced that February sales tax receipts climbed 11.4% from last year’s figures, leading to overall collections 7.9% above budget projections + reaching $13.3 million through February.

Tourism sales tax receipts also showed gains, up 6.2% compared to the prior year.

Rapid City waste collection will change on May 1+ yard waste will now require a subscription while weekly recycling pickups end.

Residents are advised to verify details with the local waste management office.
