- ➤ Stagebarn Middle School in Summerset is hosting a month-long sock drive for veterans as part of the Warm Feet for Warriors project and aims to collect 4,100 pairs, building on nearly last year's total. Student Wyatt Dennis—known for his lemonade stand during the Sturgis Motorcycle Rally—and PE teacher Kattie Bland said the drive shows that every pair matters and that donations are accepted throughout October. - ➤ Ma Cualli, a family-run Mexican restaurant, will open its second location in downtown Rapid City at the old Que Pasa site — offering a new spot for local diners to enjoy Mexican cuisine. Rapid City Journal

- ➤ Rapid City Council voted to schedule a Libertyland USA public vote for January 2026 after receiving community input at its Monday meeting — the decision will lead to a special election. Rapid City Journal
HEALTH NEWS
- ➤ Youth and Family Services in Rapid City continues to support in-home daycares in food and nutrition education during the federal shutdown by running its USDA-backed Family Child Care Nutrition Program—used by 78 providers across 31 counties—to help lower meal costs for families. KELOLAND

- ➤ On Monday, the 2025 Girls State Tennis Tournament ended in Sioux Falls with Sioux Falls Christian leading with 360 points while Rapid City Christian scored 312 and St Thomas More earned 239 points—official scores and brackets were later updated. KBHB
- ➤ The Sturgis boys soccer team beat the Tea Area Titans 3 to 2 Tuesday night at Woodle Field in the first round of the SoDak 16 playoffs—Dodson broke the school record with his 17th goal and the team will face Sioux Falls Jefferson on Saturday. KBHB
